Team Ovarian Cancer: Unstoppable, Together; Riders, Donors, Doctors and Patients
Team Ovarian Cancer was founded to honor the journeys of two courageous women, Mara Castello and Janet Snider, both diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Sadly, we lost Janet 2 years ago and Mara this December. They were both members of the Dream Factory Community, an educational organization that empowers women to live their dreams.
Mara's dream, as a life coach, was to support women newly diagnosed with ovarian cancer with a seven-step process that she created as she dealt with it for 8 1/2 years. She developed a program, which could be used for any challenges, and delivered it at a Dream Factory event, and at Ovations for the Cure. The picture on this page is of her when she presented to the Dream Factory Community.
Team Ovarian Cancer funds Dream Factory Community Ovarian Cancer Research Fund at Dana Farber and the money we raise is given to Dr. Ursula Matulonis MD, head of Gynecologic Oncology at Dana Farber. She and her department are at work on a protocol, that our funds support, to enhance the power of Natural Killer Cells to kill ovarian cancer cells. They are treating patients now. We are a sponsor and are credited with being part of the team that made that possible.
Team Ovarian Cancer is committed to raising money to support Dana Farber’s efforts to find a cure for this devasting disease. Check out our video that was produced and shown on Channel 4 News and at the PMC Opening Ceremonies in 2022. It features Mara, Beth Stone and myself. Three stories of why we participate on Team Oravian Cancer.
Team Ovarian Cancer is unstoppable in our support of the important work of Dr. Matulonis and her team. Please join us as we whole-heartedly take on our mission to treat ovarian cancer successfully. In three years, we have raised $413,000 that goes directly to the cause. Join us!!!!
- Donate!!! Please!!! Donations on this page will go right to the cause.
- Ask others who share your concerns regarding ovarian cancer to donate as well. Share this page.
- Join our team and register as a PMC Rider on August 2-3. There are many routes and choices from 1-2 days and 25-211 miles. Fundraising and registration fees vary depending on the ride.
- Ride Reimagined and invent your own ride: time, day, location. Fundraising and registration fees are less than riding on the PMC route.
- Be a Virtual Rider: no riding and no commitment to how much you will raise. Have your commitment be your guide to your fundraising effort. Belief in the cause is the only prerequisite. One of our Virtual Riders, Tay Freeman, raised almost $20,000 last year.
Thank you for your support for all the people you know who are being treated for ovarian cancer and for those you don’t know yet. Many people will survive cancer because of the research we fund at Dana Farber. Together we can make the impossible, possible.
Here is a recording of a meeting featuring Dr Porter and Dr Romee who are working on the Natural Killer Cell protocol.
