I have been a PanMass Challenge rider, raising money for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, since 2013. Each year I ask for your support as I ride to raise money for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute’s life-saving cancer research and treatment. Through the generous donations of people like you, this year, the PMC will surpass $1 billion raised since 1980.
This is my third year on Team Ovarian Cancer, supporting the work of my own oncologist, Dr. Ursula Matulonis, Chief of Gynecologic Oncology. She has spent her entire career in pursuit of a cure for cancers that affect women everywhere. She is now on the verge of a Stage 1 clinical trial of immunology that boosts a patient’s ability to fight these cancers more naturally.
While her research is way above my pay grade, what I do know for sure is that because of her work, I am 3 ½ years cancer-free. In that time, I have danced (like no one’s looking!) at the weddings of both my children, and this year, welcomed my first precious grandchild. I have begun what I hope is a long and joyful retirement, traveled more, and shared more of life’s moments, big and small, with the people I love. I get to live every minute, every day, and it’s because Dr. Matulonis and the Dana Farber are transforming cancer treatment right here in Boston, and in fact, all over the world.
Three and a half years cancer-free – beat that!
Twenty thousand American women were diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2023. I've made a personal commitment to ride 84 miles from Wellesley to Bourne, and to raise $15,000, to help Dr. Matulonis and her research to find a cure. Every dollar I raise along with every dollar raised by Team Ovarian Cancer will help fund her work. I hope you can help me achieve this significant goal.
