We are team Fr3dStrong. We ride to find a cure for Pancreatic and other gastrointestinal cancers by fundraising towards the development and availability of gastrointestinal clinical trials.
In 2024, we lost our resilient rock, Fred Allen. He was the best Dad, brother, uncle, coworker, boss, friend, son, outdoorsman, Boston sports fan, animal-lover (the list goes on) you could ask for. Fred was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in January, 2023. After 40+ fierce, resilient rounds of chemotherapy, he was granted eternal peace in November 2024.
Our hearts will always be devastated by this loss; but we are motivated now more than ever to find a cure for this horrible disease.
Pancreatic Cancer is one of the most lethal cancers you can face - mainly because it is often initially diagnosed by the time it's already spread. In other words: It often doesn't show its face until it's too late. We are hopeful that there will be a world where Pancreatic Cancer is treatable, and where patients can continue to live long and fruitful lives with their families after diagnosis. We also hope that strides made in research towards treatment of Pancreatic Cancer will create a ripple effect toward similar strides for other gastrointestinal and rare cancers.
While fighting this wicked disease, Fred did not complain once. He fought tooth and nail for just one more day, every day: and always focused on the good. I'm having a good day today, or I feel pretty good! were common phrases from a man who faced a battle few could bare; yet he did so with immense hope and unending faith. What a legacy to leave.
With your help, we pedal and fundraise fueled by Fred's legacy of HOPE: For a cure; For one more day; For one more mile. Please consider donating to our cause. ??
*All donations go towards the Gastrointestinal Cancer Center Clinical Trials fund at Dana Farber.
