Team Sarcoma Cycling Brigade was established in 2019. Many members of our team have been deeply touched by sarcoma (a rare form of cancer comprising just 1% of cancer diagnoses), while others have been moved to action by various personal experiences with different types of cancer. Team riders and volunteers have included cancer patients and survivors, caregivers, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute researchers and clinicians, in addition to their respective family members, friends and colleagues. We band together and enthusiastically support the quest to beat cancer. With great hope and empowered to help make a difference, we share a special bond and carry the fears and hopes of cancer patients and their loved ones on our shoulders!
100% of the funds raised by the PMC goes to supporting research at Dana-Farber to prevent, treat and cure cancer, in addition to providing compassionate and extraordinary patient care. History is in the making as we witness how revolutionary science is accelerating the pace of major research breakthroughs, whereby “medical miracles” are produced by building on and leveraging earlier discoveries. A recent example that has sparked new hope and excitement is the success of employing RNA in the development of COVID-19 vaccines, which essentially follows the same blueprints of RNA-based vaccines in cancer clinical trials.
Of special note, one of the many revolutionary clinical trials of which Dana-Farber is a sponsor, and one that “hits home” with our team, involves immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies to help the body's immune system attack the cancer and interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread.
We hope you will join the PMC and our team in supporting Dana-Farber’s visionary trailblazers, medical pioneers and compassionate caregivers. Progress is clearly accelerating at an unprecedented pace and successes are multiplying! In fact, currently over 50% of FDA-approved cancer drugs was developed in part with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute community.
We welcome and sincerely appreciate donations of any size to support the PMC’s mission to “get closer by the mile” to beating cancer and Dana-Farber’s “unmatched campaign and unwavering determination to prevent, treat and Defy Cancer.”
Thank you for cheering our team on and for playing a key role in helping to eradicate cancer!
