Pook's Pedalers started riding in 2007 with 5 riders. This year we have 15 riders! We are from all over the country - and Canada too.
We have already raised a million dollars for cancer research in the last 17 years and are on to our next million. We ride to honor Jonathan Souweine (aka Pook) who died in 2009 after treatment at DFCI for leukemia. Jonathan received a bone marrow transplant and lived for 5 years. We also ride in memory of Mickey Danoff, father of Leah and Noah, who died of pancreatic cancer and Jill Zarchin, sister of Susan Zarchin. We also ride in memory of our team mate Barbara Tytell who died in 2018. We ride in memory of Devorah Jacobson's nephew Doug who also had leukemia. Our teammate Margaret Mastrangelo is riding in her 8th PMC having survived ovarian cancer. diagnosis. And our teammate Dawn Lapierre, in her third year, is also an ovarian cancer survivor. This year we are thrilled again to be an official Pedal Partner for Matilda Danoff, daughter of Josh and Clare and granddaughter of Susan. Matilda has been treating at DFCI for over 3 years for a low grade glioma in her cervical spine. We ride to promote cancer research and save lives. Join our team by making a contribution.
