Why I Ride ...
Family and Friends
Year 4 has arrived - back in the saddle for another Pan Mass Challenge. I want to thank you all for helping reach my goal last year and ask that if you can support again this year to please consider any amount ! I am a bit late to the fundraising this year, but think $5,000 is an attainable goal in the next 25 days with this crew. PMC will be breaking the 1 BILLION dollar mark this year which is super exciting.
We ride support stomach (Gastroesophageal) and brain (Glioblastoma Multiforme) cancer research that has taken two men in our community at horribly young ages. I appreciate my support team and looking forward to seeing those who are going to be on the course or in the Cape.
Who we ride for:
CRUS11TOUR - Davey Hovey (1990 - 2017) from Simsbury, CT and Chatham, MA graduated from Westminister School and St. Lawrence Univ, where he was captain of the lacrosse team in 2013. Davey lost his life after a courageous 16 month battle with Stage IV Glioblastoma Multiforme, an agressive form of brain cancer. Davey was just 25 years old when he was diagnosed and fought bravely through multiple surgeries, seizures and treatments as he had every intention of “crushing” his tumor. He left behind a loving family and many close friends, all of who have vowed to keep his CRUS11TOUR legacy alive. His strength and competitive spirit have motivated many to raise money for important brain cancer research, specifically being conducted by Dr. David Reardon and his team at Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.
Team Detect Me If you Can - Nick Tierney (1992 - 2021) from Fairfield, CT and Boston College graduate was tragically taken from this world too soon after a battle with gastric cancer in February 2021 at age 28. It was a brief but devastating journey that he managed with fortitude and grace. Please help us defeat gastric cancer in memory of our beloved Nick. The project specifically is the GEvolve project under the direction of Dr. Eirini Pectasides at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. Every dollar we raise will directly support innovative research and care.
