The summer is finally here! This year will be my eighth year participating in the PMC. My cycling partners and I will be joining over 6,000 other cyclists as we ride 162 miles over two days, from Wellesley to Provincetown, with the united goal of raising funds for the good people at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in their fight against cancer. This remarkable event not only tests our physical endurance but also unites us in the fight against cancer.
Lifesaving cancer research, treatment, and patient care at Dana Farber is still as critical as ever. The opportunity to ride the PMC and contribute toward fundraising for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is very personal for me. Cancer has invaded on my home and family more than once, and I have watched too many friends and loved ones valiantly fight their own battles against this devastating disease.
Last year thanks to your incredible generosity I reached my fundraising goal and raised an incredible $10,000!! I am so grateful to you for all your support these last seven years. I really hope you will join me in my goal to again try and get over the $10,000 mark again. It's a big number... but, what if we can? Please consider making a donation for cancer research and treatment in ANY amount that is doable for you. Even $5 or $10 goes a long way when we all pool together.
The PMC raises more money for charity than any other single athletic fundraising event in the country – AND the PMC donates 100% of every rider-raised dollar directly to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute for cancer research and treatment. After raising a monumental $72 million in 2023, this summer the 2024 goal is to surpass $1 billion in lifetime fundraising for Dana-Farber since 1980!
I am proud to be riding with Team LUNGstrong raising funds for lung cancer research. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States, affecting more people than breast, colon, prostate and pancreatic cancers combined and yet lung cancer research is woefully underfunded. BUT the good news is that progress is being made and Dana Farber is at the forefront of lung cancer research.
