Why I Ride ...
I will be riding for my 12th year in memory of both my Father Don and my Aunt Effie. My Dad passed away in 2001 from Leukemia and my Aunt Effie in 2008 after a 15 month battle with Pancreatic Cancer. As the years continue to pass there are so many parts of my life I wish I could share with them. However I know they are both looking over me and I carry them both in my heart and on my mind daily. I do my best to honor their legacies and live a life I hope they would be proud of. Both my Dad and Aunt Effie were great people, but unfortunately cancer isn’t afraid of great people.
I am BEYOND grateful to all of you that have sponsored my ride over the past years. Since the team’s creation we have raised over $650,000 to fight cancer in memory of both my Aunt Effie and Father. With your assistance again this year, we will continue our push and aim to raise at least 90K! I never dreamed that our team would raise so much money. Riding in the PMC year after year has proven to be one of the most inspiring and emotionally rewarding experiences of my adult life.
I know firsthand how cancer can quickly take someone from you. I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer. In fact, last year 100% of rider-raised revenue went directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure.
Any donation, big or small, brings us closer to a cure. The hope is that one day we can live a world free of cancer.
