Bill Veno is riding in his 14th Pan-Mass Challenge bike ride in 2024 – and I am humbly asking for your support!
This year’s 2024 Pan-Mass Challenge will be my 14th consecutive ride since my first PMC in 2011. I have committed this year to complete the two-day, 190 mile route from Sturbridge. MA to Provincetown on August 3 and 4. You may recall that I had to shorten my ride last year to just the 80-mile Day 2 ride from Bourne to P-Town, owing to a hyper-extended knee injury that severely limited my training.
It has always been my great privilege to represent you when I set out on my PMC rides, and I will be joining more than 6,000 other riders who will participate in this year’s 45th annual Pan-Mass Challenge. I am again asking for your help in sponsoring my ride in support of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s vital work in cancer research and the extraordinary care that DFCI doctors, nurses, and staff provide to those who are fighting their personal battles with this insidious disease.
I am truly blessed to be physically able to do this ride at age 78, joining the many other riders who are committed to making a difference in the fight against cancer. I train very hard to do my very best and dedicate my ride to you and to your loved ones and friends and for those who cannot ride.
Many of you have journeyed with me on my thirteen previous rides and have generously supported Dana-Farber’s cancer research and treatment efforts to beat cancer. As I prepare for this year’s ride, I am deeply saddened by the loss of dear friends and family members in the past year who have been afflicted with cancer. The numbers of those who are fighting their personal battles with cancer grows every year, which makes the work of Dana-Farber so very important to me - and to all of us.
This year I am again privileged to ride as a member of ‘Team Duncan,’ which includes Dana-Farber’s Women’s Oncology team of doctors, nurses, hospital staff, cancer survivors and their families – and regular people like me. As always, 100% of every dollar donated to the PMC ride will go directly to support the important cancer research and treatment work of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
My sincere thanks to you on behalf of all those who will be helped by your generosity, in memory of all our friends and family members who have fought and who are fighting ongoing battles with cancer. Every mile brings us closer to a cure!
Bill
