Dear Friends,
I am thrilled to participate in the PMC once again this year. Due to a scheduling conflict with the official event date, I will be taking part in a reimagined ride later this summer. I am honored to join a large and dedicated team committed to raising funds to combat cancer. This year, I will be riding 55 miles around the perimeter of Martha's Vineyard alongside my dad and brother. Like many of you, I have been personally touched by cancer, and this ride holds special meaning for me as I ride in honor of my friend and cancer survivor, Jon Garino.
In the summer of 2020, amid the pandemic, Jon was diagnosed with testicular cancer. As a former D1 lacrosse player for the Maryland Terrapins, Jon was no stranger to tough battles, but cancer presented a unique challenge. With the unwavering support of his friends, family, and the Maryland lacrosse community, Jon faced this challenge head-on. Throughout his journey, Jon has been open about his diagnosis to raise awareness for testicular cancer and to encourage men to perform regular self-examinations. I am proud to share that as of January 2022, Jon is officially cancer-free.
Supporting the PMC is vital to me because of its dedication to defeating cancer. Last year, 100% of rider-raised revenue went directly to the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, fueling their relentless pursuit of a cure.
Please consider supporting me and my fundraising efforts. Any contribution, no matter the size, would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Will
