Spring is here and I started training for yet another PMC - my 8th ride so far!
I started riding PMC in memory of my husband Abe who passed away from lung cancer at age of 56 and was an avid cyclist, riding the PMC 3 times. I am glad I still can continue his legacy.
On Saturday August 3, I will ride from Wellesley to Bourne for a total of 85 miles. This year will be my seventh year riding with the Team Heidi's Heroes. Our team goal is to further research in pancreatic neuroendocrine cancer at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute by raising funds for Dr. Chan’s research lab and to bring awareness to the general public about this cancer. Last year our team was able to raise over $286,000 and close to $1,400,000 since we started riding together.
The research is on the brink of developing treatments that extend productive, enjoyable life. Our relentless team captain, Heidi, has been living with this cancer and has benefitted from recent developments in treatment which slow the disase progression. Presently there is no cure for either type of pancreatic cancer. Our team is committed to do everything in our power to push research in this cancer forward. Would you help us in this endeavor?

The PMC has had tremendous impact on the work that we do here related to neuroendocrine tumors, said Dr. Chan. The PMC is really a true source of inspiration for me. ... It makes me feel like the work we're doing is worthwhile and impacts so many people beyond the patients who are walking through the doors.
