So why have I spent 6 years riding the PMC?
The PMC weekend is always emotional in so many ways, as we honor family and friends we have lost to cancer, treasure those living with cancer and celebrate with survivors.
COVID 19 has changed everyone's lives. Each day we make choices impacting our own health - but those choices spread to impact our friends, colleagues and families- the ripple effect. As a Gynecologic Oncologist, I have seen first hand the impact that isolation, fear, anxiety- and delayed diagnosis has had on my patients as well as health care workers.
As we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, remember:
1. The greatest risk factor for death from COVID -19 is not being vaccinated.
2. Cancer is the second leading cause of death in women. Thirty-eight out of every 100 women will develop cancer during their lifetime.
4. HPV vaccination decreases the risk of HPV related cancers ( cervix, vagina, vulvar, anal and oralpharngeal).
5. Cancer is not inevitable, it is estimated that 40% of cases could be avoided with attention to lifestyle choices.
Join me on Strava to track my training. I'm committed.
My fund -raising goal is 4,400$. I'm asking for your help! Truly, any amount makes a difference.
The PMC 2021 Re-imagined, gives me hope that health care is being re-imagined for the better. The need for cancer research has never been greater.
I encourage you to join me, to help everyone achieve better health!
I am extremely grateful for my health and the generous support of my family and friends.
100% of all donations support research at Dana- Farber.
