On August 3rd and 4th, we will participate in our 30th Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC), a bike ride across Massachusetts, to raise money for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI). This year, the PMC is expected to reach the $1 billion mark since its inception. 100% of rider raised funds go directly to cancer research and treatment.
It will be a difficult one. Virginia’s dad, Tom, died on June 16th after a two-year battle with esophageal cancer. He was a strong willed and proud man who loved his family immensely. At his celebration of life, his generosity, dedication and commitment to others were recurring themes. He will be missed by all who knew him. This 30th PMC is for him.
We always ride in memory of our nephew, Conor, who died of leukemia in 2017 at age 15. Throughout his life, he constantly reminded us what was important and for that we are so grateful. Conor will be the wind at my back pushing me to finish the PMC strong, just as he did.
Our team’s pedal partner is Declan Vail, an 8 y.o. boy diagnosed 5 years ago with a brain tumor. He endured 18 months of chemo and 3 brain surgeries and his tumor has stabilized for now. Our fundraising will be directed to the BrainStorm for a Cure Fund, researching the FGFR1 gene, which caused Declan’s tumor, to find an effective treatment.
Please join us in this mission if you are able. Your tax-deductible donation can be made via check payable to the PMC/Jimmy Fund (please mail checks to our home at 34 Forest Ave Natick, MA 01760) or you can make an e-gift by visiting the following link: http://www.pmc.org/egifts/VS0002
Thank you for your generosity and support.
