Team Thin Blue Ride started as a PMC Team raising money for Dr. Sweeny’s cancer research at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. This meant a lot to me (Jonathan Daige) because Dr Sweeny saved my life severally times.
I never knew how much the PMC would shape my future with cycling, fighting cancer and helping others battling cancer. After several PMC rides we wanted to take it a step further in helping those directly effected by cancer.
In 2016 we made Thin Blue Ride an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We raise money for military veterans, first responders and their families when diagnosed with cancer.
We have events, sell apparel and have general fundraising to help with whatever our cancer warriors need.
Thin Blue Ride is lucky to have Joe Quinn not only as a rider but as a key partner in our organization and it’s everyday operations.
Sean Sullivan will be riding this year with our team. He is a police officer and a cancer survivor. After being treated at Dana-Farber and also being a recipient of Thin Blue Ride’s fundraising efforts he wants to give back and help the organization that helped him.
Tim Segur is a police officer and Marine Corps veteran. He has been a part of fundraising for Thin Blue Ride for many years. He has also completed several Ironman triathlons and recently run in the Boston Marathon. This years PMC should be like a training ride for him.
The PMC is what started Thin Blue Ride’s journey as a makeshift cycling team and now as an active nonprofit helping those in need.
Cycling has changed our lives for the better and so has the Pan-Mass Challenge.
