Help STOP the cancelling of cancer research!! If there was ever a time to give generously, this is it!!!

This August, we will join 6500 riders for the Pan Mass Challenge (PMC). This will be Glenn’s 30th and Terry’s 27th year. We ride as part of the Patriot Platelet Pedalers (PPP) team, supporting highly successful research developing new therapies for multiple myeloma and other cancers. We’re celebrating family and friends who have benefited from this research, like Bixton, a thriving toddler in remission from Wilms tumor. We also ride to honor those we have lost to cancer and your loved ones, whose names are written on our bike.

The PMC dinner this year featured the cancer research group that our PPP team and every dollar of your donation supports. It was very motivational including presentations on the latest FDA-approved drugs, on-going research projects, and testimonials from patients. Special surprise guests Bruce and Patti Springsteen joined us by video, expressing gratitude for Patti’s successful myeloma treatment. They serenaded us with Thunder Road (yes, not a dry eye in the house).

Last year’s PMC was one of the most challenging due to very high humidity. But the joy of meeting our pedal partner Bix with his wonderful family 80 miles into Day 1, made it all worthwile. Bix, now a healthy 3 year old, asked why his picture was on our bike. Will future cancer patients have the same positive outcome? Cancer research has been making great strides converting terminal diagnoses to chronic illness (with high quality of life). But as federal grants are being cut dramatically, this can change in a heartbeat.

FAMILY NEWS: On our annual Find-New-Bike-Trails and Get-Out-of-MA-in-February Road Trip, we enjoyed visiting and biking with Lena in Huntsville, Alabama (where she works for NASA) and lots of friends and family. Jackie continues to teach pre-school at the Rochester School for the Deaf. We love to hear about her creative classroom projects and success in getting her students ready for kindergarten. We continue to stay busy in our retirement including lots of rail trail work and improving the water quality of our local rivers and ponds…and yes, we are biking!!!
