I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer. Last year 100% of rider-raised revenue went directly to support the Jimmy Fund and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
2024 will be my 12th year riding in the Pan Mass Challenge.
I ride in memory of Steve M, Cal B, Debbie J, John N, Dave T, Boris G, Ray V, Joan O, Lorraine M, Chris C, Gwen B, Charlotte O, Tom F, Louise P, and many others.
I also ride for our team's Pedal Partners. These children are young oncology patients at Dana Farber’s Jimmy Fund Clinic. During one of my first PMC rides I met Hailey Giguere-- now an amazing young woman in her 20’s. She was initially diagnosed with a brain tumor when she was just over 1 year old - so she has had to deal with cancer her whole life. It is hard to imagine what she has endured over the years - countless radiation, chemotherapy, and surgeries. Hailey is an inspiration to me and countless others. The photo on my Fundraising page (top left) is of Hailey, Danny Pompeo and myself from 2017.
The group I ride with, Team Lick Cancer, has been a long time supporter of the Pediatric Brain Cancer Clinic at Dana Farber. Each year, we direct a portion of our fundraising to support research for ATRT (Atypical Teratoid Rhabhoid Tumor) and other pediatric brain tumors. ATRT is a rare and aggressive form of childhood cancer. Over the years, our team has directed over a million dollars of our fundraising to to Dr Susan Chi and her incredibly committed team at the Pediatric Brain Cancer Clinic to find a cure for child brain tumors.
