What a wonderful Pan-Mass Challenge bike-a-thon weekend! The weather was spectacular, the 6,500 riders were pumped, the 3,500 volunteers were cheerfully helping, and the thousands of spectators lining the streets were truly inspiring.

For those outside New England, the PMC may not get much coverage—but here in eastern Massachusetts and on the Cape, it takes hold of the entire region for more than two days. Each of you was with me and our team throughout the journey. The preparation, training, and fundraising are the hard parts—riding the 162 miles is the easy part! Your sponsorship means everything. I’m deeply humbled and grateful for your generosity.

This year’s ride hopes to raise $76 million for Dana-Farber. While I personally fell short of my $11K goal, our team raised $176,296 to date —a testament to the power of community and shared purpose.

A Brief Recap of the Weekend:

Friday: Team DOLBEN arrived at Babson College in Wellesley for rider registration. We picked up our packets and jerseys, caught up with old friends, and enjoyed a team dinner before turning in early since our wake-up was at 4:00 AM!

Saturday: We were on the road by 6:45 AM, after opening remarks from Meredith Starr and Mike Timlin. The 86-mile route took us through Wrentham, Dighton, Lakeville, and Wareham, ending at Mass Maritime Academy (MMA) in Bourne. We started with eight riders and, unfortunately, finished with six after two teammates had medical issues.

At MMA, we refueled at food tents, listened to live music, and relaxed—there’s even a massage tent I always mean to try but never quite make it to (maybe next year!). That evening, we attended the emotional Living Proof ceremony, which honors cancer survivors who ride. Our team includes two of them. Mike Timlin shared heartfelt words about his late friend Tim Wakefield, who passed from cancer in 2024, and whose wife Stacy tragically passed just months later, leaving behind two teenagers. There wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd. It was a powerful reminder of why we ride.

Sunday: Revelry sounded at 4:00 AM. After coffee and breakfast, we crossed the Bourne Bridge during its special 4:30–6:00 AM bike-only lane and rode 76 miles to Provincetown, with water stops in Barnstable, Brewster, and Wellfleet. We arrived in Provincetown at 11:30 AM to cheering crowds. Such an incredible feeling. After a shower, lunch, and dropping off bikes and bags, we caught the 3:00 PM ferry back to Boston.

I remain forever grateful for your support of this important cause. I truly couldn’t do it without you. You’ll likely hear from me again in 2026. We’re not the mafia, and we’re not a cult, but... there’s no way out!
