2017 was an amazing year for us. We got married, bought our house in Hull, and rode in our first PMC. Most importantly, our niece Kelly finished her final treatments for a type of malignant brain tumor called medulloblastoma. While her recovery from her treatments and surgeries continues, she is cancer free and so 2017 brought us all a lot of joy.
2018 is off to quite a start as well. We registered for our second PMC as soon as we could in January, and a couple months later found out that our team would be growing!
McBaby (gender to be revealed at birth and name to be revealed shortly thereafter) is due to arrive in late October, meaning Jenn will be 6 months pregnant at the time of the PMC. This timing doesn't bode well for her to actually partake in this year's ride (note: if manufacturers do not make maternity cycling shorts, this suggests a good reason to stay off the bike!) but we are still committed to the fundriasing and Doug will be riding for the 3 of us representing Team Kelly Strong.
We have set a goal of raising $10,000 and MUST raise $8,000 to meet our fundraising commitment to the PMC. We hope you will give generously to the Pan-Mass Challenge, which supports treatment and research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. We ride in honor of our niece Kelly whose recovery continues, in honor of Jenn's aunt Camilla who is currently battling breast cancer for a second time, and in honor of all of you whose lives have been touched in some way by cancer.
Thanks for taking the time to read this update from Team Kelly Strong - your support and love inspires us to ride and raise funds to fight cancer. Much love,
Doug, Jenn & McBaby
PS - you can donate to Doug, Jenn or our team page. All our fundraising is pooled as a team so click the donate to our ride button on the top right portion of this page, or you can click our names below to donate to either Doug or Jenn's fundraising pages. We will gladly write you another thank you note this year, complete with another fabulous Wonder Woman USPS stamp.*
