This year, I'm thrilled to announce that I will be participating in the PMC for my second year as a member of Team Year Up! Our team is passionately raising funds for a cause that holds a special place in my heart. All the money we raise will be donated to Pediatric Brain Tumor Research, specifically to support the DFCI Pediatric Brain Tumor Lab.
Children's brain cancer is sadly the leading cause of cancer-related deaths for kids under 14, making it an extremely important cause to bring awareness to. Team Year Up's mission is particularly meaningful to me, having witnessed the courageous continued battle of two close friends against this terrible disease. I ride in honor of Dmitri Itzkovitz, who underwent brain surgery and spent months after recovering - re-learning how to walk and talk while slowly recovering his memory and cognitive skills, as well as Jacob Vincent, a 12 year-old Dana Farber patient who commutes with his family from Tennessee for his cancer treatments, and their families who have endured what absolutely nobody should have to in their fights against brain cancer.
I'm proud and grateful for the opportunity to raise money and awareness for Year Up & support Dmitri Itzkovitz, with our team having directly funded a drug trial that recently gained FDA approval to treat the exact brain cancer that Dmitri has been battling.
I am inspired every day by the shear strength of these two families and the many families like them. I thank you for helping make a difference in the lives of those fighting against brain cancer with any size donation! We have made significant strides over the years through fundraising with the PMC but have even greater accomplishments in the comming years thanks to you!
Please consider donating to support this incredible cause and ride - any donation, small or large, can make a dramatic difference. I really appreciate all of your support!
