Why I Ride ...
I ride in memory of my grandfather Stanley Stasheski who passed away in 2000 after a long battle with lung cancer and my aunt Sandra Stasheski who sadly passed away in 2019 from ovarian cancer. I also ride in honor of many family members and friends who have defeated cancer in their lifetimes.
100% of the donations and sponsorships I raise will be used to defeat cancer, and will be contributed to the Team Nathan Fund at Dana Farber.
The Nathanisms (click here for team page) was started by a colleague & his close friend and co-captain to fight the pediatric brain tumor affecting his son. Over the last few years the team has grown to 20+ riders supporting the Team Nathan Fund and the Low Grade Astrocytoma program at Dana-Farber (www.danafarberplga.org). That research has enabled the clinical trial of TAK580, a game changer for kids with low grade brain tumors.
Update: APRIL 2024:
The FDA has approved Day One Biopharmaceuticals’ OJEMDA (tovorafenib) for treating pediatric low-grade glioma. The availability of this first-of-its-kind treatment represents a long-awaited moment for many pLGG patients and a significant milestone in our efforts to accelerate new treatment options for all children with brain tumors.

This is the drug that Nathan was on as the first child in the clinical trial - that successfully shrunk his tumor. Our PMC fundraising team (and your donations) was part of the funding referenced below as the small group of Boston-area families. Now more kids like Nathan can easily get access to this drug instead of the complexity and lack of accessibility of getting into a clinical trial.
