Why I Ride ...
Dear family and friends,
On August 3rd and 4th I will be joining several of my colleagues from MAPFRE Insurance along with thousands of cyclists and volunteers from across the country for the 2024 Pan Mass Challenge. This will be my 8th PMC and my sons, Steven and Nicholas will be joining me for their 2nd ride with Team MAPFRE. We are dedicating our ride to my dad/their grandfather William (Bill) Shiner who we lost to lung cancer in 2020.
As many of you know, the PMC is a bike-a-thon that raises money for life saving cancer research and treatment at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The PMC raises more than 62% of the Jimmy Fund's annual revenue and is Dana-Farbers largest single contributor. Over its 43 year history, the PMC has raised over $970 million for cancer research and treatment. Importantly, 100% of the funds raised by the riders go to Dana-Farber. Last year thousands of riders and volunteers from 43 states and 12 countries participated in the event raisiing over $72 million. This is a milestone year as the PMC will exceed $1 billion in funds raised this year since the first ride in 1980.
My sons and I have committed to raising $20,000 this year and we could really use your help. Please consider making a donation to our ride and feel free to forward this email to anyone who may be interested in supporting this very important cause.
