Dear Friends & Family,

          YES, the Pan Mass Challenge (PMC), started in 1980, has raised over One   Billion Dollars in its first 45 years! And we raised $75 million last year alone! As mind-   boggling as those numbers are, we still have work to do. And I’ll be riding again this   year for the 21st consecutive year.

          First, I’d like to thank you again for being my co-pilots and supporting me with your personal stories, encouragement, and generous donations. Your partnerships with me, through the years, have been overwhelming and YOU’RE the reason the Pan Mass Challenge is such a huge success! THANK YOU for your generosity and for staying with me.

          I’d like to briefly share an experience from my training ride a week ago Sunday up along the coast to the high school in Hull, Massachusetts (“Hull Gut”) and back home ~ just over 70 miles overall. It was nice and cool along the water on the way north as I rode along Oceanside Drive in Scituate, MA. I could see police activity ahead and assumed that they were attending to some type of mid-morning medical emergency. As I got closer, I could see they’d blocked the road off but bicycles were getting through, so I planned to slow for a peek and keep riding. However, as I came upon the scene, I stopped and took these two pictures . . .

          Evidently, a driver lost control of his pickup truck, accelerated, took out a 2nd vehicle, drove through the hedge & low stone wall, and crashed into the house in the picture. He walked away unscathed and no one in the house was hurt. I guess it happens once-in-a-while, but I’d never seen it before. I’m not sure “exciting” is the right word but certainly “different” and “pretty lucky”. Thought I’d share.

          But enough frivolity! I’ll be hoping to clip-in (and not tip over like 2-years ago) on Saturday, August 2nd at 5:30am for the final PMC ride out of Sturbridge, MA. The ride will launch out of Holy Cross College in Worcester, MA next year due to its growth. Our mission is to raise money for Dana Farber, The Jimmy Fund, and cancer research and care. It’s such an important cause that I’ve been committed to now for 21 years. Once again, I ask to tap into your overwhelming generosity in supporting my ride.

          To help you understand and appreciate the PMC ride and mission a little better, here are several mind-boggling bullet points that help explain how important your support is:

• The PMC raised $75million in 2024 which accounts for over half of Dana Farber’s annual budget for cancer research and care
• 100% of EVERY rider-raised dollar goes directly to The Jimmy Fund and Dana Farber Cancer Institute
• This is the 46th year of the PMC ride and we’ve (you and I and a “few” others) raised $1.047 BILLION in the first 45 years!
• This year’s fundraising goal is $76million and I’m asking you to help us get there!
• For the 10th consecutive year, I’ll be a captain of the South Shore Hospital team
• Our team’s fundraising is directed toward Dana Farber’s world-class facilities locally here south of Boston at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, MA.
