Why I Ride ...
In November 2008, I was diagnosed with mantel cell lymphoma, a rare blood cancer with a historically poor prognosis. After seven rounds of high-dose chemo and an autologous bone marrow transplant, I have made a full recovery and have been in remission for 15 YEARS and counting. Nothing, however, is guaranteed in a world where cancer affects 28 million people. I'm riding to give thanks for the sacrifices of all who fought this disease and succumbed, but in fighting, added to our knowledge of how to save others. I'm riding to give thanks to my amazing caregivers at Newton-Wellesley Hospital and Mass General. I'm riding to give thanks to the socialized medicine in Scandinavia that produced the Nordic Regime, the innovative treatment that saved my life. And I'm riding because this battle is far from over--for me or for the 28 million others who are fighting cancer every day. Thanks for any level of support you can offer, from $5 to $500, it all carries us one mile closer to helping those in the fight and preventing our club from growing.
