I will be participating in my 8th Pan-Mass Challenge on August 2nd. My first ride in 2018 was in memory of my dad Jim “Bud” Mansfield (2011) and my nephew Patrick Doherty who lost his battle to cancer in 2018.
In 2020 we formed Team Arlington Angels riding in memory of Patrick and two other Arlington young adults, Catherine Malatesta and Matt Griffin all of whom had lost their respective battles to cancer way too soon. After a successful inaugural ride we set a goal of raising $1MM in ten years. Heading into our 6th year as a team and with the generous support of family, friends, colleagues and sponsors we will hit the $1MM goal this year. An amazing accomplishment for current and past team members.
In May 2023 I was diagnosed with Stage 3 pancreatic cancer. Thanks to advancements in treatment and care that are a direct result of research and development efforts at institutions like DFCI, I am fortunate enough to be still kicking. This is why we continue to ride
Sadly the list of friends and loved ones facing cancer grows. I will also be riding in memory of my sister-in-law Kathy Troisi, friend and mentor Paul Konig and Lt. Dan Kelly, APD. This is why we continue to ride.
When someone - anyone receives a cancer diagnosis, NO ONE who cares about that person is left untouched. This is why we continue to ride.
The Arlington Angels will be riding again this year in honor of our Pedal Partner Mia Lee of Needham. Mia completed treatment for leukemia in 2023 just as she began second grade and is currently in remission and thriving. This is why we continue to ride.
Please join me and team members Mary & Dan Doherty, Tricia Verrier, Kate Hassan, Brett Hassan, Lauren Stauffer, Matt Mansfield, Luke Mansfield, Mark Lumpy Lombard, Mike Hogan, Robert Kelley, Frank Castellucci, Laura Mei, Eric Smith, Sarah Walker, Dave Moran, Joe Halice, Peter DiCarlo, Rob Hegarty, Jen Goodwin, Greg Makatesta, Andrew Malatesta, Reid Malatesta and Taylor Goodwin as we ride in pursuit of ending cancer.
The Arlington Angels raised $215,000 in 2023 and have now raised over $850,000 in five years thanks to the generous support of our friends and neighbors. Please join us for our 2025 One in a Million campaign
Raising money for cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is the core of the PMC mission. Since 2007, 100% of every dollar PMC cyclists raised goes directly to the Jimmy Fund. Since 1980, the PMC has contributed $1 Billion, which finances research in its earliest stages. Known as seed money, PMC funds enable clinicians and scientists to pursue innovative research that has the potential to achieve the results that will warrant National Institutes of Health (NIH), or other private and government grants. In so many cases, this early support has fostered the development of some of the most important advances made in cancer research
