annabelle and I in Parade!
When I was carrying my youngest daughter Annabelle, I was diagnosed with breast cancer in my first trimester. Words can not describe the feeling. It's strange to have cancer when you are pregnant. Everything we are told to avoid in pregnancy (deli meat, sea food, soft cheeses) seems trivial next to chemo. But to improve our chances of being a family in the long-term, Annabelle & I had to walk the path of breast cancer together.
- She was with me when I had my 8.5cm tumor removed.
- She was with me through the chemo
- She was with me through all the emotional ups and downs
and after she was born via planned c-section, and I finished my radiation treatments, she was with me when we rung the Dana Farber bell. There were so many times I was terrified that something was going to happen to Annabelle, and to be able to sit here today and tell you that she is absolutely perfect. Grateful is not enough to describe it. Our Family is whole because of Dana Farber, and it's time to try to give back.
I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because I am treated by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute for my breast cancer.
