Dear Friends:
This will mark my 9th consecutive year riding the Pan Mass Challenge (“PMC”)! The PMC raises more money for charity than any other athletic fundraising event in the country and this year we hope our fundraising efforts will exceed over One Billion Dollars in cumulative fundraising since1980! The PMC raises money for cancer research and 100% of all rider-raised funds are donated to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. It takes all of us to fight and I COULD REALLY USE YOUR HELP WITH MY RAISING FUNDS!
The PMC will take place on August 3rd and 4th. I have committed to riding over 160 miles over the weekend with a personal goal of raising $10,000. Riding the PMC continues to be one of the greatest experiences of my life. Being surrounded by a true spirit of love and energy from fellow riders as well as spectators who line the roads to support us along the way, truly inspires me to keep riding through my pain to help find a cure for this monster. Cancer does not discriminate and as I get older (not so much stronger), I become even more grateful and blessed to be strong enough to ride, while so many others cannot due to their battles with all forms of cancer and other ailments. I believe we all have gifts and I feel I am using one of my God given gifts to give back to those who cannot.
I belong to the Marshfield Rams Cancer Riding team with representation from the east to west coast and our Team will be riding again in the 44th annual PMC. The PMC holds the promise of helping to eradicate all forms of cancer which affects millions of people every year.
On a personal note, I ride for my mom, a survivor of two bouts of cancer (breast and melanoma), my sister-in-law Rosemary, who is a survivor, and sadly for those whose lives were cut short; my Uncle Jack and his son/my cousin John, my nephew, Ryan (age 22); my Aunt Pauline, and my good friend Jim Orcutt just to name a few. I also ride for those who are currently battling cancer.
To take part in this event, I need to raise a minimum of $6,000 but my personal goal is $10,000. Donations are tax deductible and can be made online at http://www2.pmc.org/profile/SK0205 [donating under my name Sue Kiley or SK0205]. If you prefer to write a check, please make it payable to either: PMC, The Jimmy Fund, or Dana Farber Cancer Institute and mail the check to me at my home address listed below.
For those who continue to support this great cause, I am so grateful. For those considering, I totally understand you get asked for contributions all the time and while that is fatiguing, it’s not as fatiguing as someone who is battling cancer!
Any contribution you make towards my ride is greatly appreciated. The PMC is a way for us to honor all those currently dealing with cancer and survivors in remission. Most importantly, we remember and honor those who lost their battle and now shine down upon us from heaven. The PMC is helping the world get closer to a day when no one will have to hear those horrifying words you have cancer.
All the best and most especially good health - I hope you will donate to be a part of our mission One In A Billion.
Blessings and Peace,
Sue
