In memory of Maureen Casey Mazzeo for Amanda
Inspiration is an amazing thing, it allows you to do more than you ever thought you were capable of. If you are lucky you meet a few truly inspirational people in your lifetime, just knowing them and being in their presence can give you the strength and courage to move mountains or ride 200 miles on your bike. I am lucky to have a best friend named Amanda Bulger who inspires me everyday. Her energy, enthusiasm, smile, beauty, strength, courage, sense of humor and love of life is infectious and you see that the moment you meet her. Six months ago Amanda lost her mother Maureen to cancer. Amanda and Maureen were the role model of an ideal mother/daughter relationship. They spoke everyday on the phone, shared every thought, secret, idea and dream. They loved and respected each other and when you were with them together you knew you would spend your time laughing and smiling and just enjoying life. Loosing Maureen was heartbreaking for Amanda but she persevered with courage, dignity and grace. She uses her mothers memory to ignite her dreams, loves, and aspirations. She recently found an old photo of her mother in Paris enjoying a trip of a lifetime and seeing that image inspired her to book her own trip to Paris, a place that she has always dreamed of visiting. It is Maureen's energy and spirit that inspires Amanda to live life to its fullest everyday - to honor and cherish her mother.
Maureen and Amanda have inspired me to ride by bike for 200 miles this August in the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) to raise money to fight cancer. This is the 3rd year I have participated in this ride which starts in Sturbridge, Mass and finishes in P-town. It is a grueling 200 mile ride across Massachusetts. The annual ride is so hard but it is worth it, 100% of the dollars that are raised goes directly to Dana Farber to fund life-saving cancer research. To date the PMC has donated $338 million to Dana Farber. Maureen fought her battle with cancer in Massachusetts and I hope to help her continue to fight this battle by doing everything I can to combat this devastating disease. I am asking you to honor the memory of Maureen Casey Mazzeo with a donation to this amazing cause in Maureen's name. I only hope I can really live and enjoy my life the way she did. If you would like to make a donation in Maureen's memory please log onto https://www.pmc.org/donation.asp and put in my name. And really any donation helps and makes a difference to fight cancer.
Thank you so much for your support.
