Dear Friends & Family,
In just a little more than a month, I will again have the privilege to be part of the Pan Mass Challenge. Having 12 years of PMC involvement in some capacity, this will be my 9th year riding the traditional 2-day 200-mile PMC ride from Sturbridge Ma. To Provincetown Cape Cod.
As many of you know, the PMC is Dana Farber Cancer Institutes largest source of revenue, and immensely important in the funding of the critical research & treatment that makes Dana Farber so special. This year marks a unique milestone in that the PMC will surpass 1 billion dollars raised for Dana Farber…and that is not a typo. Additionally, it also marks the 20th year of our amazing Team Brent, and I am once again honored to be riding as a member of Team Brent Wheels. Team Brent was formed after 2-year-old Brent was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. 20 years later, Brent is doing remarkable, attending college and is one of the premier chess players in the country. It is truly one of the great stories of what Dana Farber and the PMC are all about.
As amazing as the ride is, it is still not without its challenges. The training, the fitness to be able to complete it, and the rider commitment of $6800.00 toward the cause. As previously, I will be riding for all of us that have been so adversely impacted by cancer, and especially with immense gratitude for the support & recovery of our family’s youngest survivor, 10-year-old Colton. 5 years ago, we all learned on a very personal level, the impact that Dana Farber can have, and the amazing care Colton received. Today Colton is a thriving, energetic 10-year-old, yet continues to fight through the effects of treatment toward a full recovery. None of this is possible without your help, and 100% the reason I’ve decided to ride the PMC one more time. As mentioned, the PMC has become very personal. Please consider a donation and know that your generosity is making all the difference. The easiest way to contribute is online: www.pmc.org/sj0065 Or if you prefer, a check made payable to PMC and mailed to Scott Johnston @ 1138 Oldfield Road, Fairfield CT. 06824. Also, please let me know if your company participates in a matching program.
Please know that any contribution is impactful and most appreciated. Whether it is in memory of, or in support of, I remain committed to ride purposeful for all of us who have been impacted by cancer. As the PMC echo’s “We are getting closer by the mile”. May God continue to bless all of you & your family’s.
All the best,
Scott
