On August 3 of this year I will be riding my bike from Wellesley, MA to Bourne, MA which is 85 miles. Why am I taking on this ambitious ride as a beginner outdoor rider? I am doing this to help raise money for cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. I don't know a single person who can say they do not have a friend or relative that has battled this terrible disease and I am motivated to help make a difference.
This year, I will be riding with Team South Shore Health to help change the lives of local cancer patients. All funds raised by my efforts, will support the Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Center at South Shore Health which provides close-to-home, life-saving cancer care to patients on the South Shore. I have recently learned that The Cancer Center provides world leading cancer care for close to 700 patients per day. Patients recieves highly specialized care, from diagnostic imaging to integrative therapies, to access to groundbreaking trails and supportive care services here on the South Shore.
I began riding a bike that goes nowhere 8 years ago just to keep my heart healthy. I want to live a long, healthy life and watch my two beautiful children grow and flourish into adults, an opportunity that, unfortunately, not every parent gets to do. I lost my own father when I was just 20 years old so I know firsthand about this type of loss. If my journey can help just one family not suffer the loss of their parent, spouse, or child to cancer, it will be my honor to have ridden.
The PMC raises more money for charity than any other single event in the country, over $900 million since 1980! This success is the result of a lot of people riding for, and caring about, a cure. And because every penny matters, 100 percent of your donation goes to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
I've made a personal commitment to ride PMC 2024 and raise $4,000. I hope you can help me achieve this significant goal. Every donation, no matter how small, helps us all towards the finish line.
Thank you for your support!
