I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer. 100% of rider-raised revenue goes directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure. This will be my second PMC ride and I am thrilled and honored to be riding with my dad, Steve Galligan, my fiancé, Tommy Lyons, and my two uncles, Marc & Robert Galligan.
My dad, who inspired me to get involved with the PMC, is part of the PMC Living Proof project. He, like countless others, benefited first hand from the tremendous goodwill and innovative treatments Dana-Farber provides for patients. This year marks his 35th anniversary of being diagnosed with cancer. Due to funding in cancer research, he was fortunate enough to have survived with the help of advancements in chemotherapy. If his diagnosis were a few years earlier, his chances of survival would have been less than 10%. Fortunately, chances of beating the cancer he was diagnosed with increased to 90% in a few short years because people donated to cancer research and a cure was discovered.
I will be riding in honor of my Nonnie, Margy Marrinan, and will be thinking of her and all those who have fought cancer as I climb each hill on the ride.
Thank you for supporting me as I train for the PMC and raise funds for the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber!
