PMC- 2024 YEAR TWELVE FOR EVAN'S CREW / YEAR 11 FOR ME..... We Ride on Evan's Wings
Another year has past and we continue to raise awareness and funds for DIPG. As the team says, We will continue to ride every year until there is a cure or our legs give out. Thank you to everyone who has supported Evan's Crew along the way, we CANNOT do it without all of YOU!!!
Our incredible team is made up of Family and Friends of Evan Mandeville. Evan, was an amazing little boy who was taken away from this world, way to early in his young adventurous life.. Evan was diagnosed on November 13, 2011 with a rare brain tumor called DIPG and passed away a year to the day of his diagnosis , Evan was only 11years old . And even though I never had the pleasure of meeting Evan, he holds a very special place in my heart...
11 years ago, a very special friend of mine, Audrey, had posted on her FB page that she was asking for donations for her very first PMC bike ride in honor of Evan who had died from DIPG .. I had known the family through my connection with Audrey and donated, without hesitation. Then, a few days following the ride, Audrey was trying to explain ( because until you experience it , first hand, it is impossible to put into words) to me how absolutely amazing the entire PMC weekend was and how she would be participating again the following year. After listening to her stories, that were filled with so much emotion, I decided that I too wanted to be part of Evan's Crew and start making a difference. I asked Tim and Aimee if there was a spot for me on next years TEAM!! They welcomed me with open arms and 11 years later, I am still riding with the most Amazing Humans...
DIPG is a rare brain tumor that affects the brain stem and grows rapidly. The Survival rate is 0%.
WE RIDE FOR EVAN....
Tim and Aimee established the Evan T Mandeville DIPG Research Fund at Dana- Farber Cancer Institute where Evan was treated. Through our particiapation in the PMC we are able to raise money directly for this fund at Dana-Farber
Dana Farber and the Pan-Mass Challenge team up to raise MILLIONS for cancer research. Evan's Crew has now raised over 1.4 MILLION DOLLARS for DIPG research! AMAZING - thank you doesn't seem to cut it..
100% of all donations made through the PMC goes directly to Evan's Research Fund, The Evan T Mandeville Fund.
Thank you for reading and I really hope you will take the time and make a donation... Every penny helps get us closer to finding a cure.
Thank you for taking the time to read this,
Sara
