Why I Am Riding.
This year marks my 41st anniversary of being diagnosed with cancer. Due to funding in cancer research, I was fortunate enough to have survived with the help of advancements in chemotherapy. If my diagnosis were a few years earlier, my chances of survival would have been less than 10%. Fortunately, my chances of beating the disease increased to 90% in a few short years because people donated to cancer research and a cure was discovered.
After 41 years of learning I had cancer, I look forward again this year to raising money for Dana Farber and the Jimmy Fund by riding in the Pan Mass Challenge. This will be my 6th year participating in the PMC. The two - day ride starts from Wellesley to Bourne on day one, and on day two from Bourne to Provincetown, MA. The complete two-day ride spans one hundred and seventy miles on August 3rd and 4th. This year I am honored to be part of team Galligan that includes me, my brothers Bob and Marc, and my college classmate Chris Simmons
Once again, I will be riding in honor of my mother-in-law Margy Marrinan, and life-long friend Mark Nilo, and many other close friends who are currently battleing this dreaded disease.. Please remeber that one hundred percent of the money that we raise will go to fund research that will help prevent agressive forms of cancer that takes peoples lives at too eary an age. I greatly appreciate any contribution to my ride. My goal this year is to raise $20,000 toward this most worthy cause. The link to make the donation is on this page. Thanks!
