I am excited to be participating in the
Pan-Mass Challenge this year, a bike-a-thon that has raised $375 million for cancer
research and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the Jimmy
Fund.
I am no
stranger to physically challenging myself, having swum, biked and ran my way
through sprint and Olympic distance triathlons.
However challenging this ride will be for me, it is all about how I can
help others.
It’s about my Mom who has had more than her share of health
issues and is a breast cancer survivor.
It’s about my Grandpa who has fought off colon, bladder and skin cancers.
It’s about my uncle who struggles with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. It’s about my aunts who have fought breast
cancer. It’s about my friend’s mom who
suddenly passed away from ovarian cancer.
It’s about another friend’s dad who lost his battle with metastatic
liver cancer last year. The list of family and friends who have been diagnosed
with cancer unfortunately goes on.
The two-day, 163 mile ride originates in
Boston
and finishes in
Provincetown
on August 4th. As such, I
will be celebrating my birthday this year by riding for those who cannot, for
those who are fighting cancer and those supporting them, and for a future with
successful treatment options.
I am reaching out to ask for your generosity for this
worthy cause. If yours is one of the many companies that match
charitable donations, please ask your employer how to submit the appropriate
form. Please don’t underestimate the power of your dollar! Help me make a difference and support me in
this ride to save lives.
Thank you so much!!
