Dear Family, Friends, Colleagues,
I am reaching out to you once again with a heartfelt request for your support.
Last year, I particiapted in my first ever Pan Mass Challenge (PMC) RIDE IN SUPPORT OF THE FIGHT TO BEAT CANCER.
Day 1 of the ride was quite challenging, given the distance of 112 miles on an extremely hot and humid day. Most miles I have ever done in a single day. With the benefit of a few well-managed rest stops, the support of my great riding team "LICK CANCER", and the encouragement of countless other riders and supporters along the route, I made it to our overnight stop at Buzzards Bay. With only a short time to recover, I wondered how energy levels would be on Day 2 of the ride, 75 miles from Buzzard's Bay to Provincetown. Buoyed again by the support of my team, other riders, and all the wonderful people who lined the roads of Cape Cod to cheer us, I felt very strong and arrived a tthe Provincetown finish with a great sense of accomplishment.
The feeling from that weekened in August 2024 that remains the strongest is one of renewed belief in the human spirit. Being part of group of 5,000 riders, hundreds of volunteers, hundreds of supporters lined along the roads, all galvanized by a common cause, was truly an awesome experience. So much good we can do when we unite and work together to make the world a better place.
I want to again THANK ALL who contributed to my fundraising campaign for your generous support and/or encouraging messages I received before, during, and after the ride. I narrowly missed my fundraising goal of $8,000, but was proud to take part in a fundraising effort that in aggregate raised $54 million dollars that goes 100% directly to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
This year, I RIDE AGAIN IN SUPPORT OF THE FIGHT TO BEAT CANCER!
The challenge is the same as last yeart; cycle 192 miles over 2 days and with a target to $8,000.00 for the Jimmy Fund and The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. I hope you will help me once again achieve this goal.
My reasons for riding are deeply rooted in my personal experiences and a fervent desire to make a positive impact in the fight against cancer.
REASONS I RIDE:
TO HONOR the resilience and strength of my family, friends, colleagues that have bravely battled cancer, and with incredible strength, determination, love, and the power of science and medicine, have OVERCOME! Their courage in the face of adversity has inspired me to take action and do my part to support them and countless others affected by this disease.
IN RECOGNITION OF of all those that have sacrificed much to provide care. comfort and support of loved ones suffering from cancer; YOU ARE TRUE HEROES.
IN MEMORY of those among my family, friends and colleagues that have succombed to this horrible disease.
TO SUPPORT the incredible work of scientists and researchers who dedicate their lives to eradicating cancer.
By raising funds for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, I hope to contribute to advancements in cancer research and patient care, ultimately bringing us closer to a world without cancer. Last year 100% of rider-raised revenue went directly to support the Jimmy Fund and The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure.
Your support would mean the world to me and to all those whose lives have been touched by cancer. No matter what the amount, your contribution will make a tangible difference in our collective fight against this devastating disease.
Thank you for considering my request, and thank you for your unwavering support in the fight against cancer.
With Love,
Sami
