Dear family and friends,
Thank you for taking a moment to understand why I am taking on this challenge. I'm a proud supporter of the Pan Mass Challenge because it is leading the charge to cure cancer. In fact, each year the PMC DONATES100% of every rider-raised dollar to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through it's Jimmy Fund.
This is my 9th year to take the challenge. Sorry, plain truth, this ride is difficult but not nearly as difficult as going through cancer surgery and treatment. I’ve been lucky so far, personally, but both my parents and many loved ones have made the difficult cancer journey. It hits hard and I’m trying to do what I can to raise the funding to find a cure.
Each year the ride up those hills becomes so difficult but with each mile it gives me such a realitity check. I think about people I know that have dealt with the heartache, the physical setback, the mental anguish that comes with diagnosis, surgery, treatment and the difficulties that follow. This year I would also like to take your loved ones with me in my heart.
Along with 5,000+ other riders, the Pan Mass Challenge has given me the opportunity to do something to change the course of this horrid disease. My goal is to raise $5000 that will go directly to finding a cure for cancer.
I am training hard and will ride 85 miles on August 6th from Wellesley to Bourne. I ask that you please support my endevor. Educate yourself on the amazing work that the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute do. If you are able to make a donation to help me reach my goal, I would be so grateful. No donation is too small.
Please send me the names of the people you'd like me to reflect on and hold in my heart. It would be an honor to do so.
Love,
Sue
