The PMC is a bike-a-thon that raises more money for charity than any other single athletic fundraising event in the country! I will be riding 186 miles from Sturbridge MA to Provincetown MA over the course of 2 days to raise money for cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Since its founding in 1980, PMC riders have raised more than $1 billion for lifesaving cancer research, treatment and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, one of the country's top cancer care hospitals. I will be riding with the Patriots Platelet Pedalers (PPP) (https://patriotsplateletpedalers.org/) so 100% of the funds I raise will support the innovative work of Dr. Ken Anderson. Dr. Anderson's lab focuses on researching new interventions aimed at treating multiple myeloma, a type of cancer that affects bone marrow (https://www.dana-farber.org/find-a-doctor/kenneth-c-anderson#230548828-185939943, https://themmrf.org/multiple-myeloma/).
Dr. Anderson works closely with the the Kraft Family Blood Donor Center which provides blood products to patients at both Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women's Hospital. Since 2018 I have donated whole blood and blood platelets at the Kraft Family Blood Donor Center and throughout this time I not only have seen the importance of donating blood products, I have seen the tremendous impact the funds raised by the PPP has done for Dr. Anderson and his patients.
