Alongside my father, two brothers, sister-in-law, and my Bikers Dozen teammates I had the privilege of riding in my second Pan Mass Challenge. On August 6, 2022 I clipped in for my first Pan Mass Challenge to bike 85 miles from Wellesley to Bourne, Massachusetts. The amount of gratitude shown by Massachusetts residents flooding the streets starting at 6:00 AM gave me endless courage. The entire day revealed to me how impactful the event is, and it was an easy decision to want to ride annually after that.
7 years ago, my father was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Luckily, it was detected early enough to be surgically removed and he can now live cancer free and ride alongside me for 85 miles. The reality is all of us are affected by cancer directly or indirectly. By riding in the PMC and raising money for cancer, we can all channel our emotions, experiences, and personal stories into a positive and impactful action. It provides an opportunity to honor and remember those affected by cancer while actively contributing to the fight against the disease.
On August 3rd 2024, I will be riding in my 3rd Pan Mass Challenge. The Pan Mass Challenge is a two-day long, 192 mile bike ride across the state of Massachusetts. I will be riding one day. This challenge was created in 1980 and today raises more money than any other athletic fundraising event in the country. Over the past 40+ years, PMC cyclists have ridden to raise and contribute over $900 million to cancer research. 100% of your donation goes to cancer research. Your donation can make a difference in the lives of millions of people every year who develop cancer.
This year I will be riding again alongside my father, my two brothers, and The Biker's Dozen. The Biker's Dozen is a unique team as all proceeds are directed towards finding a cure for pediatric brain tumors: specifically DIPG, (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma). Although there is no cure for DIPG, the funds Biker's Dozen has raised have helped clinical trials. It is my goal, with all your help, that I will live to see a cure for DIPG, and all forms of cancer.
Overall, the PMC combines fundraising, community engagement, personal connection, physical challenge, and a sense of purpose, all aimed at fighting cancer. It serves as a platform for individuals to come together, create awareness, support cancer patients, and actively contribute to the ongoing battle against cancer.
I truly appreciate any support you can provide to help this worthy cause. We need to eradicate cancer. Every dollar matters in this battle.
