Why I Ride ...
I have been riding the PMC for 22 years. Its the best way I can think of for someone that is not in the medical profession to help find a cure for cancer. I have lost family members and close friends to this disease and will continue to ride until a cure is found!
This year I am changing my training regimen, normally I ride around 1500 miles in the Lakes Region of NH preparing for the PMC in August. This year I have a much more difficult training regimen, I plan to cycle across country, from Seattle to Marshfield MA. I will start this ride in Seattle on May 3 and if all goes well with the weather and my gear I will finish in Marshfield on June 22nd, 45 days spent pedaling the 3800 miles, or an average of 84 miles per day. I should be in great shape for the PMC by the time I complete this training ride! I expect to have lots of time to reflect on the loved ones that I have lost to cancer as well as time to celebrate the cancer survivors that continue their fight against this disease.
This year I will have a special riding partner, my niece Anabel Apgar will be riding in her first PMC! I am very excited to have the younger generation of Apgars continue this strong tradition of fund raising for cancer research through the PMC.
Please consider donating to the PMC to help fund the research to battle cancer. I will be battling winds, weather, and trying to replace the 5000+ calories I will burn cycling 84 miles each day! Together we can ensure the Dana Farber Cancer Institute continues the ground breaking research against cancer!
