My mom was diganosed with glioblastoma in July 2018 and passed away in December 2018. She fought the good fight, never once complaining nor feeling sorry for herself but unfortunately, the survival for people diagnosed with glioblastoma is less than a year; she barely made it five months.

This will be my sixth time riding the Pan-Mass Challenge. 190 miles from Sturbridge to Provincetown feels a little daunting but pales in comparison to what those diagnosed with cancer have to go through. I am beyond proud to participate in this wonderful cause and pedal across Massachusetts in the quest for a cure.

As in years past, all of the money we raise will go directly to the Neuro-Oncology Center at the Dana Farber Institute. Glioblastoma is one of the most underfunded types of cancer research so every dollar we raise is critical to the research and development of a cure.

I'll be riding in living memory of my father, Rick Walters, who has come out the otherside of prostate cancer, fortunately! I will be riding in memory of Gary Dingman and Carole McGillicuddy as well. Both courageous relatives who lost their battles to cancer.
