I'm a proud participant in the Pan-Mass Challenge - a bike-a-thon that raises more money for charity than any other single athletic fundraising event in the country - to bring us Closer by the Mile to a cure for cancer.

In February 2024, our three year old daughter Toni was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL) and our world was forever changed. We spent five days in the ICU at Boston Children's Hospital before moving to the oncology floor where we lived for 35 days.

I'll never forget the fear and anxiety I felt after receiving the diagnosis. . At that moment our world stopped. Everything we knew as normal changed.

The treatment plan for Toni is two years and she is 15 months in. Thankfully, because of Dana Farber and the Jimmy Fund Clinic, her prognosis is good. Having said that, we are still in the middle of a fight. We have ups and downs based on every cycle. She is on a chemotherapy and a steroid regimen. Fifty years ago leukemia was a death sentence. We have a come a long way, but we still have so far to go. Your donation can help suppoort the advancement of immunotherapies to treat blood cancer versus the harsher chemotherapy treatments Toni is currently receiving. Moreover, your donation will help support the amazing team of doctors, nurses, child life specialists, social works etc. all who are looking to change lives and working towards the cure.

Toni is a funny, smart, kind and spunky kid. She just wants to be a kid. In the last two months Toni has had a buckle fracture on one ankle and a fracture on her other foot. The luekemia and steriods she takes makes her bones very weak.  Our hope is that one day families will not have to go through what our family is currently going through. I can't tell you how many times that i have said that i wish it was me and not Toni. What Toni has been through would have killed me alreaady! She is a true warrior. We owe our daughter's life to Dana Farber.

I will be riding in the Pan Mass Challenge this year with Team Schuck Cancer in honor of my daughter Toni, our pedal partner.
