This summer I am excited to ride in my fourth consecutive Pan Mass Challenge. The PMC is an annual bike-a-thon to raise money for cancer research at Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
I am mixing things up a bit this year and in-lieu-of riding from Sturbridge to Provincetown over two days, I will be riding 100 miles out and back from Wellesley. Still an official PMC organized ride, still committed to raising a meaningful sum of money, but with life being just so hectic these days this mileage, and the training that goes into it, just seems to feel right for me and my family this year.
Unfortunately, cancer touches us all. There is just no way to entirely avoid that. Like most of us, I have both close family and friends who have been diagnosed with cancer. Many have overcome, sadly some have not.
What I fear the most about cancer, and why I feel so compelled to ride, is that none of us, no matter our age or physical condition, are immune to its effects. While there are certainly steps that we can take to reduce our risk, so much is out of our control. Fortunately, with world-class organizations like Dana-Farber, everyday we get a little closer to a cure.
This year I have committed to raise $3,000 for Dana Farber Cancer Institute. I would appreciate your support - if you are able, a donation of any amount will make a difference. For those of you with a corporate matching gifts program, your donation can have an even larger impact.
I welcome and appreciate your support and am truly grateful for this opportunity to make a real difference.
Sincerely,
Randy
