About Me
I was born with vaginal rhabdomyosarcoma, which was diagnosed at stage 3 when I was eleven months old. Throughout the first three years of my life, I underwent numerous surgeries and round after round of VAC chemotherapy (receiving 75% of the recommended adult dose).
I remember quite a bit from that time in my life, most especially the connection I had to the doctors and nurses in the hospital. In fact, my case manager and favorite nurse were the only 'friends' I wanted to invite to my 4th birthday party (they came and gifted me with my first-ever Barbie).
Today, I am healthy and infinitely thankful to the team of amazing people who treated my cancer. I am grateful for each day I get to laugh, pet every cute dog I see, ride my bike, and do whatever I can to pay back the world for the generosity and care I received during the first years of my life.
On August 3rd and 4th, I'll be riding 162 miles (Wellesley to Provincetown) with Team Duncan. We're raising money to support the life-saving work of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and I can't tell you how excited I am for this to be my first two-day ride! If you're able to donate to my ride, every dollar is appreciated! 100% of the funds collected go directly to Dana-Farber cancer research and treatment.
TEAM DUNCAN
Team Duncan’s mission is to raise funds for care and research focused on breast and gynecologic cancer. The funds that we have raised over the past decade have led to the development of clinical trials that never could have occurred without PMC funding.
In 2019, the team's name changed from from Team WOW to Team Duncan in honor and memory of Duncan Finigan, who was a healthy wife, mother, sister, friend, and colleague diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer in October 2014. Duncan rode the PMC 4 times and lived every day like it was her last, until she lost her courageous battle in May 2019.
Team Duncan consists of just about 100 riders (and growing!), including Duncan’s husband, four sons, girlfriends, sisters, brother, former co-workers, and friends of Duncan. Over Team Duncan’s 20+ year history, we have welcomed a diverse mix of new riders representing doctors, nurses, cancer survivors, other Dana-Farber employees, patients, friends, and family members. The team has raised millions of dollars over the past two decades and has set a goal of $1,000,000 for 2024.
