I first signed up to ride the PMC in 2008 because I was looking for a new challenge. Little did I know that this would turn into a lifelong commitment, not just to pushing myself physically, but to aiding in the fight against cancer.

I ride for the loved ones who are no longer with me due to cancer. For my grandmother Julia, my grandfather Forrest, my uncle Lenny, and my great Aunt Shirley. But I also ride for those who are still with us, because the work that Dana Farber and other organizations do enable them to survive. For my BIL Michael. For every kid who stands by side of the PMC route with a sign saying “I’m here today because of PMC riders.”

The actual ride is 2 days in August. But being a part of the PMC is an annual commitment to the cause and the time it takes to train. The strength of the organization means that my little efforts have huge impact, and that’s why I plan my summer around being a rider, year after year.
