Being on the bike isn’t just the wind flowing between the cracks in my helmet, tracing a circle with my feet over and over again, or even falling over inevitably trying to unclip. To me it means so much more. Long rides seem to connect further with everything. Grounded to my bike I feel the sense of community from the places I ride though and the people I pass by enjoying the road every bit as much as I do.
When I heard about the Pan Mass Challenge I knew it was something I had to do. This will be the first year I am able to participate, just making the 15 year old cut off. My mom had been a part of the fundraiser for 6 years. Her mother, my grandmother, Ana Maria passed away from stage four pancreatic cancer. Growing up she was a huge inspiration for me as an immigrant from Guatemala. My fundraising will go to a speaker series at the Dana-Farber in her name.
I want to give a huge thanks to everyone who can help me achieve my goal of raising $6000 to spread awareness about cancer. Every donation counts and goes to a good cause. I’ve got 186 miles ahead of me and many more in training and I am so grateful for your support and kindness.
Below I’ve attached my Strava link so you can keep up to date with my training. And follow me on the two day route from Sturbridge MA to the providence town inn.
