Dear Friends and Family,
The Pan Mass Challenge of 2024 will be my twelfth ride. The ride continues as does the fight against Cancer. So here I am again, asking for your support in fighting this horrible disease.
Over the last two years I have contemplated calling it quits. After my tenth ride in 2022 I thought – “Okay I’ve done enough. I can stop now and feel good about having done my part.” But when I look back on my previous rides starting with my first in 2011, I am reminded of the impact that the PMC has on those who are in treatment. The riders, by the simple act of peddling, are providing hope. I remember how on that first ride several of us had stopped to repair a tire. As we worked on the repair, we were approached by a young mother and her 8-year-old son who told us their story. At the age of two and a half, the boy had been diagnosed with Cancer and yet due to the treatment he had received, here he was five and a half years later, Cancer free and thanking us for riding. He had become a survivor, and he was grateful, grateful for his continued good health and grateful for our fundraising efforts. The memory of that young boy is what has kept me riding each year and why I will ride again this August. The fight is not over. The job is not done.
Every 30 seconds, a new Cancer diagnosis is given, impacting the lives of the individual as well as affecting their family members, friends, and co-workers. These individuals are more than names on a list. They are our loved ones, our contemporaries and more importantly, they are pieces of our hearts. Therefore, we must remain committed and invested in this compelling cause with an intention to eliminate Cancer in our lifetime.
Your help is needed in this fight and the PMC is the way to do it. This is the largest athletic fundraising event in the nation with 100% of rider-raised revenue going directly to the cause of eradicating Cancer. The following link will take you to my web page which will help further explain this fundraising event: http://www.pmc.org/profile/RL0148. A donation of any size would be appreciated and can be made online through this secure website or, if you prefer, you can make out a check payable to PMC and mail it to me as follows: Randy Larson, 41 Robert Blvd., Charlton, MA 01507. You will receive certification of your donation for tax purposes. All online donations will be certified automatically.
In addition to your donations, I always appreciate any, and all encouragement that you can give me by way of your online notes or roadside cheers. I feel extremely privileged to make the ride again with Team Cyclosaurass, and especially to represent you, my contributors.
With sincere gratitude,
Randy Larson
