Each year, I think hard about why I ride the Pan Mass Challenge. I remember all of the loved ones I've lost to this disease. This year, I'm thinking about how many of them would have survived if doctors knew then what we know now through the benefit of scientific research.
This research happens right here in Boston, at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Incredible, innovative work is performed by researchers, scientists, physicians - all of whom depend upon funding to support their research. Now more than ever, this funding is critical to sustain this work and continue fighting for advancements in cancer diagonosis and treatment.
Though my mother and other family members won't benefit from today's science, so many will. People like the incredible young man Dimitri Itzkovitz. 100% of the money I raise for my PMC ride will support the Dmitri Itzkovitz Pediatric Brain Tumor Research Fund. My PMC team, Year Up, has contributed to this fund since 2015, and helped fund clinical trials to successfully shrink pediatric brain tumors, like Dimitri's. The fund also helped build the Dana Farber's pediatric brain tumor research program.
The PMC raises more money for charity than any other single event in the country. With 100% of the money riders raise going directly to the cause, we can help ensure that research will continue regardless of cuts to other funding sources. Now more than ever, my ride feels critical. Your support is critical.
Thank you for contributing!
