I Ride for the Memory of Catherine Malatesta
This weekend I will be honored to saddle up and ride my seventh PMC and my fourth with the Arlington Angels. We are a close knit group of riders inspired by the memories of three shooting stars that left us far too soon: Patrick Doherty, Matthew Griffin and Catherine Malatesta. My neice Catherine was a 16 year old Junior at Arlington High when she was diagnosed with stage 4 epithelioid sarcoma. This was supposed to be her year. She was voted president of the student council, captain of her field hockey team and a leading role in the school play. She never let her diagnosis define her, she waged a courageous battle; she even made it to her junior prom. Unfortunately, our shooting star lost her battle, but her presence is still felt everywhere, all around us and her spirit will live on in so many fond memories that will inspire my ride for Catherine.
I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer. In fact, last year 100% of rider-raised revenue went directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure.
I hope you will help keep the memories of Pat, Matt and Cat in your heart and help donate to a wonderful cause.
Gratefully,
Robert Kelley
