My mother was diagnosed with colon cancer in 1998 and survived all of her procedures and treatments, enjoying life for 26 years. She was diagnosed again in December 2024 with colon cancer, and after discussions with doctors and family, we decided to schedule surgery on February 25th to remove the cancer. The surgery was a great success removing all of her cancer and she was told that chemotherapy was NOT needed. Great news. Unfortunately, her body never recovered from surgery and she passed away on April 25th, 2025. I was so proud of her and her fight with this bought as well as in 1998. I never got the chance to tell her I was riding in the Pan Mas challenge for the first time in August 2025 in her honor. I also have a coworker that was diagnosed with ampulary cancer in 2024. After a successful whipple surgery and ongoing recovery/treatments, she was able to Ring the Bell last week after her last chemo treatment. So proud of her and her grit and determination going through those tough times. Lastly, my girlfriend's brother in law was diagnosed with cancer in December 2022. After a very tough time of Treatment Centers as well as procedures, he passed away two months later. IT STINKS!!! I will be riding with all three of them in my heart and mind in August.
I am proud participant in the Pan-Mass Challenge - a bike-a-thon that raises more money for charity than any other single athletic fundraising event in the country - to bring us Closer by the Mile to a cure for cancer.
Since its founding in 1980, PMC riders like me have raised more than $1 billion for lifesaving cancer research, treatment and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, one of the country's top cancer care hospitals. My PMC is making a difference in the lives of patients at Dana-Farber and around the world. The funds I raise support the innovative work of doctors, nurses, and scientists in their search for cures for cancers and related diseases.
100 percent of every dollar I raise goes directly to Dana-Farber, meaning that your donation has a real impact! Please donate to my PMC fundraising and help me reach my fundraising goal.
