This will be my third PMC. Riding from Sturbridge to P-town with so many other riders creates an amazing sense of being part of something important. Besides helping to raise funds that directly support the efforts that help find cures and treatments for cancer, it is a celebration of the lives of so many people who have battled different types of cancer with their own courage and faith, and the science and medicine that their doctors can provide to help wage the battle. Sometimes it is a battle that is won; progress has been made on many fronts and many patients have benefitted along the way and survived the fight. And sometimes, it is a battle that is lost, which is why we need to continue to support the efforts to find ways to increase the chances of good outcomes. My dear wife, Lauren, died from cancer in 2022. She had survived two previous battles, and knew that someday there might be a cure for the type of cancer that attacked her in the third battle, but not soon enough for her to benefit. She would want me to do what I can do to help future patients survive; and that's why I'm riding, to do my small part in a big battle -- and I know she rides with me.
