I support the PMC because it is fighting in every way it can to beat cancer. 100% of the donation you make goes directly to funding Boston's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's commitment to finding cures for cancer.
I'm sure you have lost friends and relatives to cancer. Perhaps you have had to fight it yourself.
Before I signed up for my first PMC ride in 2013, Gayle and I had suffered the death of a close friend, Janet, from lung cancer. Then Margaret, our next-door neighbour in Ireland as I grew up, and a huge family friend, also died of lung cancer. Shortly after that, my aunt Lil died of throat cancer. In early 2013 my uncle Charlie died of brain cancer. Just after the 2013 PMC, my mother-in-law Jean, in Virginia, also died of a brain cancer. The list, sadly, goes on.
I am a member of the PHAT Tuesday team, which rides the PMC every year.
This year, the PMC's goal is to raise $75 million. It is already more than halfway towards that goal, and has recently hit the major milestone of over $1 billion raised in support of Dana-Farber since the PMC began in 1980.
Gayle and I will contribute the first $5,000 of donations, but I need your help to reach my fundraising target of $10,000. Will you help me?
